You can feel confident leaving your child in the hands of our trained and experienced nursery team. Our Nursery Ministry provides excellent childcare in a safe and loving environment. We offer care for newborns through 2 year olds during all of our services on Sundays and Wednesday evenings.
Infant Nursery
- This nursery is for newborns-12 months old (or until they are able to walk) during our Sunday morning services. On Sunday and Wednesday evenings, the infants are combined in the Walkers Nursery. The Infant Nursery is staffed with women only so that nursing moms can feel the freedom to use this nursery and have some privacy to nurse their infants during all services.
Walkers Nursery
- This nursery is for children 13-24 months old. A snack (animal/graham crackers) is provided for the children unless nursery staff is informed otherwise by the parents.
2 Year Olds Nursery
- For children 24-36 months old. We have a structured Bible story time during our Sunday morning services for the 2 year olds. A snack (animal/graham crackers) is provided for the children unless nursery staff is informed otherwise by the parents.
Nursery Team
Our nursery team consists of at least one adult worker and one or more adult or youth helpers in each nursery. All nursery workers/helpers must be a Calvary member and are required to complete our Safe Haven application (see our Safe Haven Policy below). All nursery workers/helpers are trained to be familiar with the nursery facilities, child care, child safety, and our Safe Haven Policy. Our Nursery Coordinator monitors the nurseries during all services to ensure proper child care and safety.
Check-In Procedures
In order for our Nursery Team to provide your child with the best care possible, we ask for your help with the following:
- Bring diaper bag supplied with at least 2 diapers, change of clothes, a bottle/formula or food if needed, a bib, and any other special item your child might need. Please be sure to clearly label your child's diaper bag (we provide tags if needed), bottle/sippy cup, and other special items.
- There is a sign-in sheet on the counter in each nursery. If you are a member or regular attender, your child's name should be on the sign-in sheet; please high-light your child's name and complete the special instructions. If you are a visitor, please add your child's name to our sign-in sheet and complete all information. We also ask that you fill out a visitor card and give to a nursery worker.
- Pagers are provided to all parents with babies in our Infants Nursery. Pagers are also available upon request in the Walkers and 2 Year Olds Nurseries. We do ask that parents take a pager if their child is in the process of potty-training.
- Children are only released to their parents (or guardians) at the end of services unless the parents inform the nursery staff otherwise.
Illness Policy
We kindly ask that you do not put your child in the nurseries if they have experienced any of the following within 24-48hours:
- fever (higher than 100.0)
- runny nose (yellow/green)
- diarrhea
- vomiting
- pink-eye
- strep throat
- common cold symptoms
- flu symptoms
- rash of any kind
- or, any other questionable symptoms
*If your child is on an antibiotic, he/she must be on it for at least 24 hrs before coming into the nurseries.
*All nurseries are cleaned and sanitized on a regular basis to help reduce the spread of germs and illness.
Discipline
"Time-out" is used at the workers' discretion. If your child is being destructive or will not stop a behavior that is hurting another child, we will come to get your assistance. We may also come get you out of a service if your child may possibly be ill, soils his/her clothes and there are no other clothes to be used, he/she cries inconsolably for more than 15 minutes, or has been injured.
Safe Haven Policy
The following is taken from our Safe Haven Policy Manual; these guideline specifically addresses our Nursery Ministry.

2. The rule in the preceding paragraph shall be waived in the following situations:
a) Sunday School classes in which the Child Care Provider is an adult and there are at least three (3) children present;
b) The Child Care Provider is an adult and there are at least three (3) children present over 12 years of age;

Members of the Safe Haven Committee shall periodically conduct unannounced visits to the nurseries.
Preschool: Ages 3-5yr olds
We offer three classes for children ages 3-5 yrs old during both services on Sundays. Our goal is to teach the children about our loving savior Jesus Christ through the lessons that are taught and the love shown to the children by the teachers. We have three main themes that are focused on in the week to week lessons: God made me, God loves me, and Jesus wants to be my friend forever. We bring all the kids together for the story time and then separate for the activities that support the story. There is also a worship time in each class where the kids sing together. All of the classes are studying the same lesson each week as well as the 2 yr old class, which is currently considered part of the nursery. We also teach a character study during the 2nd service each Sunday that focuses on one character trait for a month at a time. Listed below is a brief description of the ages for each class so you can determine which class your child would be in.
Young 3’s Class
- This class runs from March through September and was just recently started. It is for children that have turned 3 between September and March and is more of a transition class to help the kids to progress from the 2 yr old class to a more structured 3 yr old class. It is a small class with the limit being 8-10 kids. This class will feed into the 3 yr old class when all the classes move on the 1st Sunday in September.
3 yr old Class
- This class runs all year long during both services and is for children who are 3 and who turn 4 up until promotion Sunday, which is the first Sunday in September. They will then progress into the 4’s/young 5’s class.
4 yr old/young 5’s class
- This class also runs all year long during both services and is for children ages 4 and 5 yrs old. The children remain in this class up until they go to Kindergarten.
If they are going into Kindergarten, they will move to our Kindergarten class, which is part of our Elementary program, on the promotion Sunday, which is the first Sunday in September.
Safe Haven Policy
Much of what is listed under the nursery in regards to our Safe Haven Policy also applies to our preschool ages.
