Pod-what? Have you heard the term 'podcasting' and wondered what it meant?
A podcast, also known as RSS feed, XML feed, syndicated content, or web feed, is frequently updated content published by a website. It is usually used for news and blog websites, but can also be used for distributing other types of digital content, including pictures, audio or video. Feeds can also be used to deliver audio content (usually in MP3 format) which you can listen to on your computer or MP3 player. This is referred to as podcasting. Podcasting is the combination of two separate words - iPod and broadcast. The only thing that is required is that you "subscribe" to the podcast. If you are interested in reading more, here are two resources: Apple's FAQ and a Wikipedia entry.
Now that you know what a podcast is, here are some links to start receiving Calvary's weekly podcast. We will be using it to deliver the mp3 of the message. Because of the size of the mp3 file, it is best to have a high-speed internet connection (cable modem or DSL).
To subscribe directly from iTunes, click here. (This link requires iTunes to be installed on your computer. If you don't have iTunes, it will redirect you to the iTunes download page.)
There are many RSS readers (also called aggregators, catchers, viewers, etc.). Internet Explorer 7 will manage RSS feeds, but there are many other readers out there. Google has one as does Yahoo. If you have any specific questions, or problems receiving the podcast feel free to send an email.
