Make a difference
Aside from giving because we are commanded to or because it is a duty, we give because we genuinely care for others and the church and we enjoy sharing the blessings of God with others.
Why We Give
Aside from giving because we are commanded to or because it is a duty, we give because we genuinely care for others and the church and we enjoy sharing the blessings of God with others. Giving enables growth towards the goals of the church that God has established for us, such as making and maturing disciples. It also enables us to mobilize those very disciples for the work with which He has entrusted us. Giving can have an everlasting impact. (Matt 6:19-20)
Giving is an act of worship and love, an act of faith and trust.
When we give, we should:
Give towards an eternal investment (Matthew 6:19-20)
Give not out of our abundance but abundantly (Mark 12:41-44)
Give to honor God (Proverbs 3:9-10)
Give to obey and test God (Malachi 3:10)
Give expecting results (2 Corinthians 9:6-9)
Often, when we think of giving, we think of giving money. But we have so much more to give, including our time and our abilities in serving others. It could also include giving our freedom to others through sacrificial service or sacrificial financial giving. We should not limit our giving to one area but give through all the areas of blessings we enjoy – our skills, talents, abilities, time and finances as a general offering (tithe) and sacrificially.
